Landing Page Optimization Ultimate Guide

landing page optimization

Landing Page Optimization is an important method of generating better user experience and enhancing website performance. It is one of the leading factors of Conversion Rate Optimization. In this guide, you will learn about what is landing page optimization, how it works and why it is important in Digital Marketing. Let’s understand little bit about landing pages first then we will proceed towards optimization.

Landing Page

Landing pages are those special pages which webmasters or business owners design for sole purpose of promotions. Let’s take an example here. Imagine I am a business owner or marketer who has a product “Digital Marketing Services”. Now I want to run a campaign and provide discount on services for the occasion of New Year 2020. In this situation, I will create a promotional page especially for “Digital Marketing Service” and use this in my all promotional campaigns. While running ads on adwords, I would put this page URL as destination so that every customer who would click on my ad campaign would land on this particular page only.

Similarly, if I am running a campaign on any other platform such as social media, I will use this page so that visitors could know about the promotional offer only. Landing page is the destination where all of the visitors would land.

You might have seen promotional pages such as.

Landing Pages example -Landing page optimization

In digital marketing, we refer landing pages as Leads Capturing Pages, Static Promotional Pages and Destination pages. There are several names for landing pages.

Best Practices for Landing Page Optimization

A small change could bring a big difference. In digital marketing, it is important to keep every single factor in mind while working on optimization part. Given below are few best practices for optimizing landing pages.

Eye Catching Heading Text

Every landing page contains information about the promotion only. The content on page contains limited information about promotional offer. You have to use your skills and create an eye catching heading for your content. You have very little space and only once chance to impress visitor so you better use it wisely. Grab their maximum attention by using magic of words. Your heading should be unique, interesting and descriptive. Also the heading should have relevant length. Sometimes short & sweet works more efficiently than long promotional details.

Including USP in sub headings

Every product or service has some USP. While creating content for your promotional page, use the USP’s wisely and put it in content and headings where it is required. Subheadings are good to use product/services/promotion description. Try to simply and explain the benefits of your product. For this you could also use alternative methods such as explainer videos, a success story or testimonials.

Add Forms to collect leads data

Every promotion page has goal of generating leads. It could be a good practice to add forms to collect user data. You can use forms for this. Add forms where it is required. According to promotion you could place the forms in promotional landing pages. But the form should be relevant according to promotion. Do not add additional fields in forms. Try to make it easier for users to fill details. Don’t ask too much of details. Ask for the details which are necessary according to promotional offer.

Valuable points

Sometimes you need to explain the value of your product or services in promotion. While creating the content for promotional page, use valuable points and make it easier for users to understand the importance of your product or services. Highlight the text in form of bullets & numbers. Explain why your services are important for users.

User Interface of page (Page Design)

User interface or page design is the most important part of landing page optimization. You should create attractive pages. The page should have promotional content with attractive design. Let’s take an example of an optimized landing page here.

This is the sample optimized landing page design.

Call to action

“Call to action” term refers to those actions which marketers want users to perform. For example, clicking on buttons, buy now, Subscribe, Request demo, filling forms and requesting product/services demo.

Call to action buttons are important for better conversion. You could use different buttons to describe actions. Buttons performs better than simple texts.

A/B Testing

A/B testing is important for optimization process. Be it landing page or any campaign, you should always test it before diving into the sea of internet. Checking the performance on your own is always better than receiving negative feedback or low performances. For example:

  • Creating multiple landing pages for promotion and performing A/B testing
  • Testing different content length
  • Multiple page designs
  • Placement of buttons & forms
  • Adding additional information such as testimonials and contact page

No matter what you design, always perform a test.

Pro Tips for analyzing landing page performance

So far I have shared few best practices for landing page optimization. However there are few key points which you can keep in your mind to analyse the performance of your landing page.

Page Load Speed

Page load speed is important for you. It doesn’t matter whether you are running a campaign or not. You pages should have a good loading speed. Website loading speed is not only a ranking factor but also helps in handling bounce rate.

Exit Pages

Keep a track on exit pages and see on which page your visitors are taking an exit. It is good to know what pages are causing the trouble for your promotion. Exit rates helps to understand user behavior and give an opportunity to make changes in promotional landing pages.

Tracking keywords

Monitor the keywords which are performing for your campaign. Analyse which keywords are making visitors to land on your promotional page. You could also create goals and events to monitor the performance. Monitor the frequency of visits and returning visits.

YouTube SEO tips 2020: Rank Videos on Top

YouTube SEO

In order to rank videos on top, you must know YouTube SEO. It is a method which can boost your performance within the platform and help you to gain better ranks and can bring more views and engagements on your YouTube Channel. Today we are going to learn about YouTube SEO. I will share few steps and tools to perform SEO for YouTube Videos.

Before getting into tips and tricks, first we need to know about the ranking factors so that we could work according to them.

Social Engagement

Social engagement is form of any type of engagement such as Video comments, Subscribers, Social Shares, Likes/Dislikes, CTR (Click through Rate) and recommendations.

Video Comments

Being a content marketer, it’s not easy for you to make everyone happy. You will see both positive and negative comments on your videos. But you need to understand the importance of it and use it for your betterment. But what if there are no user comments or lesser user comments on your videos? In this situation you need to work hard and encourage people to comment on your videos. Later in this article we will learn about the techniques by which we can make users to comment on videos.

All YouTube channel owners want subscribers on their channel. Apart from asking people to subscribe to your channel there are few methods which could follow to gain subscribers and improve engagement on your channel.

Social Shares

If your videos are being shared by people, it drives great engagement on your videos and channel. It is one of the major factors in YouTube rankings.

Likes and Dislikes

Likes and dislikes are core engagement factors and also helps videos to rank within the platform. These are considered as best engagement metrics for any YouTube video and can help in improving rankings.

CTR (Click through Rate)

Click through rate in YouTube is based on number of times people got the videos on search results divided by number times people click on it to watch. You could improve your CTR by having compelling titles and thumbnails. Choose something that makes your result stand out from the rest.

It is similar to shares by instead of social media platforms; it is done on specific platform or personality. For example, if your video is recommended by celebrity or authorized authority, then engagement break records for your videos.

All these are Social Engagement ranking factors. Let’s move on to next factor which is:

Length of Video

Length of video is important according to your targeted audience and channel category. It is also a good ranking factor. A good length of video would give you better response. According to a study conducted by Backlinko, “The average length of a first page YouTube video is 14 minutes, 50 seconds.”

Video Length

This is the average time of most ranked videos. As I said earlier, you could adjust your video length according to targeted audience. For example, if you are planning to create tutorial videos, then it should be of good length with easy steps to learn. However if you want to attract audience who are looking for quick tips then the length of video should not be long.

Keyword Research for YouTube Videos

Keywords play an important role in any form of SEO. While working for YouTube SEO, you need to put maximum efforts to collect best keywords for your videos. In order to conduct keyword research, first you need to set an AIM and find keywords according to it. There are few common things which you need to keep in your mind while doing keyword research for your YouTube videos.

Target the relevant keywords which can describe your videos. Do not choose the keywords on the basis of search volume. Always keep quality in your mind and pick the best keywords which are relatable to your YouTube videos. Let’s take an example of TheSEOGuy. At my platform I provide digital marketing services and I am based out in Delhi. If I would ever create a video, then my focus keywords would be “Digital marketing Services”. In order to find more relevant keywords based on this, I will use YouTube search feature i.e.

relevant keywords

These are the actual search terms used by people while looking for content on YouTube.

It’s nearly impossible to find zero competition on YouTube because whatever you do, you have to deal with competition. Apart from analysing competition in keyword planner tool, I try to collect data from direct competitors by analysing their content and keywords used by them in their video titles and description.

Research on multiple Search Engines

You need to collect data from as much as platforms to filter out best keywords for you YouTube Video. It will help you to perform better YouTube SEO. For example, we could use multiple search engines such as bing, duckduckgo, ecosia and many more.

ecosia keywords

bing keywords

duckduckgogoogle keywords

Pro Tips:

While doing keyword research I always keep in mind that I am going to upload fresh content and it is not at all easy to rank on high competition keywords. So I target the low competition keywords first and try to achieve ranks. Let’s take another example here.

content marketing competition example

In above image I tried to check out keyword worth on YouTube. As you can see there are more than 2,000,000 results for the keyword “Content Marketing”. It is not easy for me to outrank existing videos. So in this case I need to create a plan and target keywords on which I could get ranks and can relate my content with targeted keyword. So I tried “Marketing Tactic”

content marketing competition example-YouTube SEO

As you can see that “Marketing Tactics” has just 41,000 results and if I would work smartly, I could achieve my goal. After following these steps it’s time to take all the keywords on your list and roll them through search and see which ones have a decent competition.

Use of Tags and Filename

Use of quality tags and filename are part of SEO factors for YouTube videos. If you are concerned about YouTube SEO, then you can’t ignore these.

YouTube Tag

YouTube tags are used to highlight video content. It helps viewers to understand video content. However, you have to keep quality in your mind while creating tags for your videos. Tags should be relevant to the content of your videos. Tags can identify the category your video belongs to and help people discover your videos in the sidebar suggestions of “related videos” section.

The video file name should include your main keywords. It would be great if you are have used the similar keyword in video tile and description and tags. Filename should be relevant and descriptive enough to related with video content.

Adding Transcript

Search engines are bots and we all know that they can’t listen to audio, see image and watch videos but they do index texts. So having a transcript on your videos would help you to boost YouTube SEO. A transcript enables search engines to ingest your multimedia content and index it accordingly.

Every video has a title and description but content is blank for search engine bots/crawlers. Transcripts are body text of your video content and helps search engines to read it.

These are few factors of YouTube SEO. If you work smartly, according to above listed ranking factors, you could rank your videos on top.

However, when it comes to YouTube SEO, everyone look for easy options. So let’s talk about few YouTube SEO tools. Tools are always important for better performance if you are using correct tools and using tools wisely.  Given below are few good “YouTube SEO Tools”.

  1. TubeBuddy: This tool provides some amazing options to creators such as bulk video editing, Adding quick links, direct upload on social media channels i.e. Facebook, helps in social monitoring and so much more.

Google News- Google algorithm update

Google Algorithm update this is not just a word but another challenge for marketers. Being a digital marketer, I always keep a track on every Google News. Every year we get some exciting Google news related to algorithm updates, product updates and console updates and we work according to them. Today’s topic will cover the recently released Google update. Year 2019 is just half way and we have already witness few major Google updates. But we will talk about the most recent Google update released yesterday i.e. June 3, 2019. Google has named this update as “The June 2019 Core Update”.

The June 2019 Core update

On June 3, 2019 there was official news on verified Google search handle Google SearchLiasion

Google Core Update June 2019

The thread is available here

As you have seen in the thread, it is confirm that from June 4, 2019, the update will be live.

Now the main question is what is inside this update and how it is going to impact SEO. We will learn about this update and I will share few tips by which you can save your website to get a negative impact of this Google Core Update.

I have gone through the official Google blog and tried to understand the update. I found that this update was already announced back in 2018. Here is the official Google Blog update.

According to this update, Google confirmed that they are going to include the page speed as a ranking factor.

google core update june 2019 2

As you can see, according to this update, Google tried to fulfill the user search quality by providing them better and faster results. However, they also confirmed that there’s no tool available by which you can optimize the update affected your website/blog or not.

But few good resources were suggested by the company to optimize your website page speed. Given below are the resources.

  • Chrome User Experience Report, a public dataset of key user experience metrics for popular destinations on the web, as experienced by Chrome users under real-world conditions
  • Lighthouse, an automated tool and a part of Chrome Developer Tools for auditing the quality (performance, accessibility, and more) of web pages
  • PageSpeed Insights, a tool that indicates how well a page performs on the Chrome UX Report and suggests performance optimizations

Out of these resources, personally I like Google Lighthouse. So far it is one of the easiest methods to analyze SEO performance. In lighthouse report, you can see the complete SEO health status within the browser and note down the points to work on. According to June 3, 2019 the most important according to this Google update is Page Speed. You can always analyze the page speed by lighthouse and can write down the insights. If you explore the report, you can also find out the fixes for existing problems.  It will look like this

We can navigate between options and collect the data to improve web performance.

page speed insight 2

This was the little insights in Google lighthouse but you can also use the other recommended sources according to your choice.

Pro tips to improve page speed

  1. Avoid redirects: Try to reduce the number of redirects from your website or blog as the redirects could take more time to load which may affect your entire web load time.
  2. HTML5 Frame work: Use HTML 5 framework with CSS3 to make it easy for mobile pages to load faster.
  3. Optimize Images: Always optimize images before uploading it on website or blog. Heavy images could slow down the web page and leave a negative impact. Try to use light images.
  4. Use of CDN Network: Content Delivery Network is a system of distributed servers (network) that deliver web pages and other Web content to a user based on the geographic locations of the user.
  5. Enable Leverage Browser Caching: It is a method of enabling browsers to save website data such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Images and other files to improve the re-visit site performance.

Making little changes to gain page speed will help you to face “The June 2019 Core Update”. As per the Google news, it has been started already and many of sites are getting affected. But if we prepare our work strategy according to update, we can save our website/blog from getting any negative impact.

Hope this Google news about latest Google update will help you to understand its relevance. Now you can start working towards it and can adjust your SEO strategy to avoid getting a negative impact. Or you can create new strategy which can help to you to perform well according to this latest Google update.

Guerilla Marketing Ideas Examples and Strategies

Guerilla Marketing

Guerilla marketing

Being in digital marketing we all have heard the word Guerilla Marketing at least once.  Today I am going to share few insights of Guerilla Marketing. Personally I believe that this is one of the most interesting and creative marketing method.  Let’s quickly start learning about this.

Guerilla Marketing is a method when a company owners use unconventional methods to convey a message or create brand and product awareness. Best part about this method is, it is done in minimal cost and get maximum results. Some people mix Guerilla Marketing with Competitive Marketing methods but actually is can be used in competitive marketing but not solely meant for this. It has various types which we will discuss in today’s topic. It more looks like a creative marketing method than competitive marketing.  Let’s move onto the types of guerrilla marketing quickly and learn the basics of this marketing method.

Types of guerrilla marketing:

This is a method where business owners ask people to create positive environment for their product or services on different platforms. And they pay people for this. It could be:

  • Creating blogs and writing positive blogs about business.
  • Write positive reviews for services on different platforms.
  • Posting positive comments on different channels
  • Pretend to be a customer and share testimonials

This practice creates miss impression between customers. Sometimes the content is misleading and has less trustworthy information.

Viral Marketing

According to its name, viral marketing is a method of making your content, brand, services or product viral in digital and physical marketplace. It requires a great amount of time and an extra ordinary brain to create digital content and physical marketing idea. For example, you created an offline event which attracted a lot of people and creates a deep impact on their brain. Now they start discussing your product and share information with nearby people.

Similarly, if you create graphics or digital event which makes people share your content, then your goal is achieved. As soon as the engagement grows, your content will go viral in digital marketplace.

Undercover Marketing

Undercover Marketing is an amazing part of Guerilla Marketing method. It is a technique where business owners sell or endorse product without even making a sales pitch or endorsement speech. This method is based on events where business owners create a need of their product. This marketing method also known by the name of Buzz marketing or Stealth marketing.

Presence Marketing

It would like to explain this with an example of branded merchandising. Imagine you are traveling in train and ran out of napkins. Suddenly you got a pack of napkins which has some random companies branding. You will use the napkins and the branding will stay in your brain till the time you have napkins and even after that. Every time you get napkins for you, it will remind you of that branding which you have used earlier.

Presence marketing is cashing the events by clubbing your product or services with different product or service. It is a method of getting into current events and utilizing audience to fulfill their need by clubbing or adding your product or services for them.

Wild Posting

Wild posting is pretty common in Guerilla Marketing and represents it’s most popular side. The method is all about using digital space and physical space both at the same time for creating brand promotion competing head to head. The best example is poster wars and info graphics. To target specific audience business owners create info graphics and posters, physical banners and boards. This method the best use of plastering posters, stickers and other print materials all over a concentrated area to draw attention.

Ambient Marketing

Ambient Marketing is a clever way of putting advertisement where none can expect an advertisement. This method includes techniques to find out unusual places where none can find advertisements and then publish your advertisement over there. It is not focused on product but by this method, business owners try to create brand awareness between people.

Alternative Marketing

This method is slightly inspired by Presence marketing although the prospective is completely different. In this method business owners target the events which are not event related to their business category. The AIM of practicing this method is reaching the broad audience and creating brand awareness in larger audience.

Experiential Marketing

Experiential marketing is an amazing aspect of Guerilla Marketing. It is based on creating emotional connect between users by sharing experiences. The aim is to drive engagement with as many senses as possible. In most cases, the experience is intended to be documented and shared elsewhere, whether it’s online through videos and social media, or through word of mouth. Connect and engagement in this marketing method is little higher and gives better results.

Presume Marketing

Presume Marketing is based on product experiences and thought. People need to feel the presence of the product. The business owners use Presume Marketing for increasing exposure and recognition of their product on public places. And to do this, targeting festivals, popular TV shows or upcoming movies are the best sources. This marketing method can also be applied on internet platforms. For this you need to create visuals, events, notes and stories and share it with people over different internet platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms.

In simple words Presume Marketing is a method which requires human emotions to connect.

Ambush Marketing

Being a SEO Strategist myself, I have learnt a lot about marketing by practicing this Guerilla Marketing method. Ambush marketing is basically a method which directly involves head to head with competitors. These practices involve finding events of competitor and create yours before them or counter them. For example

(Brand war 1)

(Brand War 2)

As you can see in above examples, the counter campaign for competitor is created. It drives an amazing amount of word of mouth for companies. Depending on customer requirement or interest, companies get results.

Guerilla marketing ideas

As you can understand, Guerilla Marketing is not only the competitive marketing method. It requires a good amount of time and out of the box creativity. You need to generate idea which can drive more engagement for your business. Basically you can divide your marketing strategy into two parts.

  • Product Awareness
  • Brand Awareness

However, If you are going for product awareness then try your luck with Viral Marketing, Presence Marketing and Experiential marketing.

Guerilla marketing examples

So far we have learnt about Guerilla Marketing techniques but when it comes to examples, it is very hard to collect all and share because every example is so unique and incredibly awesome that you can’t ignore them. However, there are few forever examples which can explain guerrilla marketing without a single word. Given below are few of them.

guerilla marketing examples Example 2 Example 3 Example 4 Example 5

Benefits of guerrilla marketing

When it comes to benefits, there are few major benefits of this marketing method such as:

  • Cost effectiveness: It is low budget practice based on your creativity level and out of the box thinking. Business owners get a chance to get more views on their business/product/services by practicing this method.
  • Short term results: If you content goes viral, you get amazing results in shorter span of time. You can get fame overnight and became a sensation in market.
  • Highest engagements: The number of engagement in this marketing method is always high. Business owners get engagement from targeted audience and competitors at the same time.
  • Reaching broader audience: Few practices in this method are meant to reach broader audience only. For example Alternative Marketing method is purely based on driving brand awareness and reaching out to people who are not even related to business.

Importance of guerrilla marketing

Guerilla Marketing has major impact on small business and startup companies. This whole marketing method was invented and practiced by small business owners who don’t have enough resources to get into market and create awareness of their product/services/brand. But due to its innovative and creative ways of marketing, it is adapted by big business and became an integral part of growth marketing.

Irrespective of size, every business tries Guerilla Marketing techniques. Since Guerrilla marketing is a practice which involves unpredictable ways for promoting and increasing engagement with product and services, it thus become more memorable and produce a bigger impact.

Common SEO Mistakes to avoid for better SEO results

Common SEO Mistakes

Common SEO Mistakes to avoid for better SEO results

It is pretty common to make mistakes and we all do it while working. In digital marketing world, a mistake could cost you a lot if you don’t fix it before it’s too late. Being a SEO Strategist myself, I learned from my mistakes and today I am going to talk about few common SEO mistakes. After going through this information, I hope you will be able to avoid all these common SEO mistakes.

Let’s start with Common SEO mistakes in On Page SEO

Title Optimization

Not optimizing title is pretty common SEO mistake for beginners. Most of the time we don’t work on the home page title tag which is very important. If you are the one who have not optimized title tag for your blog/website homepage then you need a new title tag that incorporates your business or priority keyword as well as your brand name.

Once you are done with the home page, you can follow the process and apply the same method for other priority pages. Here you can consider your product pages, services page, Contact Information or about the organization pages. You need to write title tags that incorporate relevant keyword associated with that page’s contents. It would be great if you could add your brand name at the end of the title tag.

Note that title tags should only be 50-60 characters in length (65 max), so you have limited space to work with.

Duplicate Pages

Duplicate pages are generally the pages with different URL and same content. Most commonly business websites face these problems after creating multiple promotional landing pages. If you are a business owner and having a website with an on-going promotion then you need a promotional landing page. But you need to be very careful while using same content on different pages. For example, you are offering discount or cashback and running an advertisement campaign for the same, your users are landing on your promotional page but if you are planning to re-launch campaign after certain period of time, then you need a new promotional landing page with fresh content related to campaign.

Pro Tip: You can also use noindex tag to avoid such problems on promotional pages. It is a good practice to avoid getting promotional pages cached.

Missing Contact Information

Internet is a virtual world where you need to create trust between your website visitors or users. If you are running a product/services website then providing proper contact information is mandatory for you. However, if you are running a blog or informative portal then you can provide basic contact information such as email or alternative contact resources as such social pages. Create a contact page according to your website/blog and provide relevant information to your website visitors/users.

The ideal position of providing contact information is at the header section of website or at the footer of every page on your website. That way any visitors to the site can easily get in contact with you when they’re looking at your homepage or a product/service page.

Missing or Template Meta data

Creating Meta data is one of the most important tasks while working for better SEO results. This is one of the most common SEO mistakes which people made while creating content pages. You need to create unique Meta data for every page you have on your website. Using same Meta description would be counted as duplicate Meta description. Never use Meta description templates for pages.

Pro Tip: If you have uploaded images on your blog/website then do the Image Optimization to avoid getting errors of duplicate Meta. In earlier version of Google Webmaster Tool, we used to get reports of duplicate Meta tags under “HTML Improvements” which is scheduled to be removed by March 29 2019.

Common SEO Mistakes - Duplicate Meta

But unfortunately, these reports are removed and now we can third party tools to track down the duplicate Meta data.

Once you start working on these on page SEO Mistakes, you will get the best possible outcome.

Let’s discuss some Common SEO Mistake in while doing Off Page SEO

Not Optimizing Toxic Backlinks

This is of the most common SEO mistakes we do while doing Off-Page SEO. It gives us a great feeling when we see number of backlinks in search console under “Top linking sites”. But it is equally important to filter the results and find out toxic backlinks and get rid of them as quick as possible. For this you need to check the spam score of the referring domain and if you find it less trustworthy then use disavow tool to get rid of that link. (Here is how to use Disavow Tool)

Common SEO mistakes - Optimizing Toxic links

In Above image you can see few toxic links which I need to get rid for better backlinking results. You can also optimize your backlinks on regular basis to get better performance. It will also help you to decrease the chances of search engine penalty and spam attacks.

Mobile Friendliness

According to significant growth in mobile traffic, it is important for every website/blog owner to create a mobile friendly website. Having a good UI/UX would work on desktop and laptop devices but it won’t work on mobile device until you get a responsive or mobile friendly portal. Mobile searches are taking over desktop searches and very soon the difference between mobile searches and desktop searches would be huge. So you should always consider your audience preferred device. If you are not sure about the most preferred device used for your website then you can take help of google analytics.

Here is how you can find which device is used to surf your website or blog.

Login to google analytics

Go to “Audience” from left hand side menu

Choose Mobile and select “Overview”

Refer the screenshot below:

Common SEO Mistakes - Devices overview

As you can see in the image, I can easily identify which device is used by user to surf my website by the help of google analytics.

Blocking Script

Not everyone is doing this but few website owners user this method to avoid search engines to read huge CSS or Java Script. They put Disallow tag in robots.txt file so that crawlers could skip the script and read HTML only. Fooling crawlers is not a good idea if you are looking for long term growth. If you are worried about the heavy scripts then try to minify them and increase the use of HTML as much as possible.

Incorrect use of NoFollow

It is also one of the common SEO mistakes which we do if we have user generated content on domain or subdomains or external links. If you are running a website and have external links such as partners, sponsors, affiliations, recommendations then you can put the nofollow tag on those external links. Basically it is the concept to inform search engines about the links which are not related to your website/business. But I have seen people using the same technique on social pages and sub-domain user generated data in the form of comments and feedbacks.

So this was the list of few common SEO mistakes which we do while doing SEO. Do comment below your feedback and share your suggestions if you want to add some more points in it. Hope this information would help you to avoid these mistakes and perform better SEO for your website or blog.

Increase Blog Traffic

If you are a digital marketers or SEO specialist who runs a blog, then you must be looking to increate blog traffic. Most likely we apply the best marketing techniques to build blog audience so that we could represent our blog to a larger audience. But if we didn’t get results as we expect or according to our work, then we need a better plan to increase blog traffic. Every blogger in the world rely on content and some amazing marketing techniques to increase web traffic. You can do this by creating a strong SEO Strategy and using the entire white hat SEO Tips.

But apart from building SEO Strategy and applying all of your brain in marketing tricks, you can also work on audience type. Building a blog audience is an important technique to increase the audience type so that you could capture broad audience and get traffic boost for your blog. Generating free traffic or you can say organic traffic is one of the best options to keep your blog in SERP.

Today I am going to talk about how can to increase blog traffic by building a blog audience. So let’s start but before that let’s understand what is audience and audience type for a blog or website.

Blog Audience

Blog audience is a group of people who visit a particular blog to find out the information of their interest. For example, TheSEOGuy is a platform for people who are looking for SEO Answers and have interest in digital marketing especially in SEO Techniques, SEO Tips and information on SEO Work. People who visit frequently on my blog are my blog audience. Being a digital marketer I can assume that my audience type would be the people who have interest in digital marketing. But that’s now how we should work. In order to find or review blog audience, I need numbers. And for that I can use tracking tools such as Google Analytics.

Website Audience

Similar to blog audience, it is also the group of people who visit a particular website but not only for information. We can take the example of few highest traffic websites such as e-commerce websites, product platforms and services platforms. Here people often visit to either find out the information or get services or product. This is the basic difference between both the audiences. Blogs contain only information, if you are looking for services or products then you have to visit the corporate website.

Building a Blog Audience

Building a blog audience is easy if you know the basic steps to do it. First understand the behaviour of your visitors and then create strategies.  There are few good steps which you can follow to increase blog traffic by building a larder blog audience.

Step 1: Bloggers Network

Getting into bloggers network and making a contribution worth a lot. You can interact with different bloggers and exchange your knowledge. All you need to do is engage with different bloggers on social platforms and help each other in solving problems. Leaving a helpful comment on other blogs or blogging network platform will give maximum exposure on your blog. It would be great if you take part in same niche community. It will be easier for you to exchange words if you have knowledge about the topic.

Step 2: Make your contribution

Make your contribution on different blogs. You need to identify the blogs with same niche and make a contribution so that you both could get some hike in blog traffic. This is the toughest part where you need to pitch the blog owner and explain the benefit of your contribution. Prepare a strong pitch to explain the benefit and how you can help them.

Step 3: Build better response rate

If you have done a guest post then keep an eye on it and respond to user comments even if the blog owner doesn’t. Keep your visitors engaged to build more trust on your content. It will help you to gain more returning users on your blog and increase blog traffic.

Step 4: Work hard on content

Writing interesting and newsworthy content can lead to build a strong audience. For this you can take help of tools such as Talkwalker Alerts, Google alerts and Buzzsumo. You can collect the information and publish a blog based on interesting and informative content. Give users what they expect from you. Content plays an important role in blogging and you can’t increase blog traffic by using monotonous content.

Step 5: Use of tools

When it comes to increase blog traffic, few people rely on blackhat tools and look for short cuts for internet traffic. It is strongly not recommended to use any automated tool such as website traffic generator or free traffic generator. If you are worried about how to get traffic on blog then rely on your skills and use right tools. Being a SEO Strategist myself, I use Google Analytics for this. Here is how to use Google Analytics to understand audience and built better blog audience.

Steps to analyse audience by using Google Analytics

Login to google analytics

Choose the property (your website)

Click on Audience (left hand side menu)

Select “Overview”

Google Analytics Step 1 -Increase Blog Traffic

As you can see in above image, audience overview will give you a brief about your audience type and you can check basic details such as:

  • Language
  • Country
  • City

  • Browser
  • Operating System
  • Service Provider

  • Operating System
  • Service Provider
  • Screen Resolution

Most important menu is “Interests” under “Audience” in Google analytics. It’s because you can get complete information of your user interests and their behaviour. Majorly there are two types of categories you can find under “interests”.

  1. Affinity Category
  2. In-Market Segment

Google Analytics Step 2 -Increase Blog Traffic

The affinity category represents the lifestyle of audience. For example hoppers/Value Shoppers, Technology/Mobile Enthusiasts, Media & Entertainment/Movie Lovers, Lifestyles & Hobbies/Green Living Enthusiasts, Media & Entertainment/Music Lovers, Food & Dining/Foodies and Food & Dining/Fast Food Cravers. This will help you to choose the promotion platform for your blog.

On the other hand “In-Market Segment” category identifies the groups of users that are in the market for specific product categories. This data can help publishers get advertising revenue from the top in-market categories. It can also help e-commerce companies define exactly what products their visitors are interested in. Keep in mind, though, Google has just started developing In-market categories so the category list and their coverage in certain geographies may be sparse, but over time more categories and coverage will become available.

Once you are done with user’s interest, analyse User’s Flow within the same “Audience” menu in Google analytics.

You can analyse the users flow by adjusting filters for the upper drop down list.

Google Analytics Step 3 -Increase Blog Traffic

As you can see in the picture, I did a small country specific user behaviour analysis for my blog. You can adjust the filters according to your research. Collect all numbers and include it in your Audience Strategy list to prepare a best strategy.

Hope this information on increasing blog traffic by building a blog audience answered the question “How to increase blog traffic”.

If you have feedback or suggestions for this information then do comment blow.
